Trump may ban citizens of 25 more African countries from entering the US

The administration of US President Donald Trump may restrict entry to the United States for citizens of 36 more countries, including 25 African countries. This was reported by The Washington Post with reference to a memorandum from the US State Department.

The new list of African countries that could face US visa bans or other restrictions includes Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Egypt, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

It is noted that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has already signed the memorandum, which was sent on 14 May to US diplomats working with the listed countries. According to the document, the governments of these countries are given 60 days to meet the new requirements set by the State Department. The memorandum also outlines various benchmarks which, according to the Trump administration, these countries are failing to meet.
